Project interface

The top left side of the screen offers the basic 'New', 'Open' and 'Stop' buttons: The top right side offers the calibration, support and settings buttons:

Calibration

Start the calibration by clicking on the Calibration icon on the top right side. Place the calibration plate in the scanner with the table at the lowest position.

Start a scan job

From an empty Project page, start with entering at least 1 case reference in the 'Client' field, optionally also in the 'Ref.1' and 'Ref.2' fields.
You can switch between model mode (Jaw) and Multi-Die by clicking the respective buttons.

Select one or multiple job indications from the list and assign them to a Jaw or Multi-Die position. You will notice that the scan job is added in the list on the right side of the screen and a job button is added to the left side of the screen. More information about how to setup the case for different workflows is provided in the Workflows section of this manual.

In the job options list on the right side you can change different settings for the specific scan job.

 

Switch between model scanning (Cast) or impression.

When impression is selected, different scan scripts will be used to capture the impression as good as possible. The mesh will finally be inverted to represent a model in the design software.

For models with separate dies you can choose to scan the dies and neighbours separately by removing some in 2 iterative scans or scan the dies separately in the Smart Die scan (recommended). When using the Smart Die you can use the Multi-Die holder for scanning or any other accessory and mount the dies at any position inside the scanning volume. 

Combine scans of models and dies that can be mounted in the scanner simultaneously. Win time by mounting as much as possible in 1 scan. After the scan the software will ask to define the different components for the different jobs.

Define the navigation style if you use the TopBottomBlock or ring (D-Type scanners only).

TBBlock (TopBottomBlock) is the Imetric Impression holder which can be used to scan Triple Tray impressions, Wax-ups top and bottom side, and full dentures.

The ring is only available on D10xi scanners.

Add texture to the scan. The Imetric D10x scanners provide grey texture and color texture options. The L1 and L2 scanner line only provide grey texture scanning.

Export for texture scans is default *.obj but can be changed optionally to *.ply.

Activate the Articulator Adapter function.

With the Imetric Articulator Adapter plates it is possible to automatically bring upper and lower model in occlusion and in the correct position inside the Virtual Articulator.  

The plates are universal and need to be mounted inside the articulator once. Find more information in the Workflows section of this manual.

 

After the scan jobs are selected you will see on the left side of the screen a new button per scan job. They have a top-to-bottom priority but you are free to select from these buttons to scan in any order you prefer. Additionally you can also change the default priority by clicking on the 'Scan' column.

Optionally you can also remove scan jobs from the indication list to minimise the amount of jobs to choose from. Unselect the jobs that you will never use in your workflows.

Note: Changes will only be visible after restarting the software.

To start the scanning process simply click on the job button on the left side to start that specific job.

You can come back to the Project interface at any time during the scanning process but note that you can't make changes to the project while one of the jobs is scanning or post processing. After the scan is finished, or in between scans, you can come back here to add or delete jobs and changes options.
